Found! The Reporter’s Notes on Matilda Barker
In 1892, a reporter from New York City immersed himself in the PleasureTown community. Shortly after arriving, he began interviewing residents. One resident who he took a particular interest in was Matilda a.k.a. Mattie a.k.a. Ma Barker. In fact, based on records excavated from the former PleasureTown site cross-referenced with telegrams sent between the reporter and his editor, the reporter may have been working on a book focusing solely on the legend of Ms. Barker. While few notes from these interviews survive today, the PleasureTown Historical Society has painstakingly attempted to preserve the remaining pages.
