Q&A: Kevin Gladish
PleasureTown wouldn’t be the same without its resident reporter, and Kevin Gladish fills that role the charm of a traveling salesman. Kevin first helped bring PleasureTown to life in our stage show, and we at the PleasureTown Historical Society are happy to have him back.
If you live in Chicago, Kevin is a bit of a familiar face. He’s an actor who has worked at theatre companies all over the city, including City Lit, The Artistic Home, Steep, Griffin and Promethean Theatre Ensemble, among others. He’s also an experienced storyteller, having taken the mic at The Moth, Story Sessions, Story Club, This Much is True, That’s All She Wrote, WNEP’s Skald and The Side Project.
Today, the PleasureTown Historical Society sat down with Kevin to get his thoughts on being a wallflower, acting and his dreams of being an old timey tobacconist.
How would you describe your character?
He’s a little like Agent Cooper in Twin Peaks. Not as straight-laced, but definitely an odd man visiting an odd place.
What do you have in common with your character? Any key differences?
I enjoy being a fly on the wall. I also like mysterious women. I guess we’re not that different.
What was the greatest challenge in finding your character?
Getting angry enough to yell at Dana Norris (who played the Doctor in episode 106).
If you lived in PleasureTown, what would be your occupation and or/pastime?
Tobacconist. Because, why not?
