As a young boy, the town clerk saved an inebriated Claude from becoming flattened by an oncoming train. Recognizing an immediate kinship, Claude recruited the boy to serve as PleasureTown’s official clerk. After the Great Fire, Claude slipped into a deep depression, leaving the clerk to run PleasureTown by himself.
